I was wondering whether the parching caused by these high temperatures, despite using a humidifier at maximum setting, Could be contributing to these returning symptoms?

High pressures causing/worsening cold symptoms
I have a persistent cold (Covid Tests of all negative) that appears to have gone away by the evening and then when I wake in the middle of the night, with a very parched throat from my high pressures (16-24) seems to have come back and by the morning the symptoms are in full force. That is, sneezing and the usual nasal symptoms of a head cold.
I was wondering whether the parching caused by these high temperatures, despite using a humidifier at maximum setting, Could be contributing to these returning symptoms?

RE: High pressures causing/worsening cold symptoms
Could have several things going on. Do you mouth breathe? A parched throat could be from mouth breathing.
I know this may sound opposite of what may help, but you could try turning the humidity setting down a bit. Lastly, the sneezing and head cold symptoms could be allergies. I'm not sure high pressure settings are the issue.

Excess CPAP humidity can cause congestion. It's generally best to use moderate settings and watch the leak rate. Give Flonase (fluticasone propionate) a try for several days. It is a good therapy against allergies and does not have a rebound effect. Follow directions on dosing.

Agreed with the others. Reduce humidity and see if it helps. Congestion from too much humidity could be what you're dealing with. And yes try Flonase.

OK. Yes I do mouth breathe.
I think I do have a virus, rather than allergies, but just thought it was weird how the parched throat seems to be triggering head cold symptoms. But from what you say, probably they are not. |
