How long did it take to get an appointment? I have had my sleep study and my second sleep study to find out my pressure and the next step is to get an appointment with a specialist to officially go over my results and to talk about getting my cpap However I had my second sleep study on the 6th I think it was??? and I dont get to see my sleep specialist until the 31st!!! That's a little over three weeks!!! Im really upset because I want to feel better and start sleeping safely.

How long did it take from your second sleep study to your visit and to get your machine??

It's been a while, but I think it took quite a long time before I got my CPAP machine, I had two sleep studies as well because the first night, I couldn't get to sleep in time to be fitted for my machine and mask in the same night so I wound up going back for a second time to be titrated.
I know it seems like forever doesn't it?

They said unless I was having 30 or more apneas an hour I would have a second sleep study to be fit for my machine with the air pressure and all that and I was averaged 15 per hour roughly so I had to go back and yes it does seem like forever lol I just hate knowing that im having apneas while im sleeping and I wanna know that Im breathing I would feel so much more comfortable (not physically lol) knowing that ive started my therapy im eager to feel better and not be so tired and mentally slow I guess I will just have to do what I can and try to stay on my side and everything till than

Not long ... the following morning after shower and breakfast, the tech wrote the script but she did not want discuss the results with me and made an appointment to see the sleep doctor. Sleep study done in public hospital in Sydney and was covered by Medicare

Looked at machines choices and decided on S9 AutoSet, liked the simplicity and the amount of data available on the LCD

Some things you can do to speed things along ... call the sleep lab and find out if they've sent the results of your sleep study to your doctor yet. Once they do that call the doctor's office. Explain that you're anxious and ask if you can get in to see the doctor sooner. If you can't get in to see your doctor see if they can help you find another doctor.

Call your insurance company and get a list of equipment providers. Call them and ask them about their policies.

When you see your doctor make sure you walk out of there with a copy of your prescription and the phone number of the equipment provider they recommend.

That time I didn't use it, but a week later they wsnted to do another with it. A few days after that I got the results and they contacted the company to get the CPAP machine ordered and all. I got mine yesterday afternoon. So, it went really fast for me.

Hi! Thank you for the info and I think that's the machine im going to get as well Ive been looking around and the s9 autoset seems the best in my opinion so im hoping the doctor I see will think the same

Just a heads up...they will most likely try to give you a straight CPAP and not the AutoSet...Your insurance pays the same no matter what machine you get in the CPAP catagory. Get a list of facts why you want the AutoSet and call your doctor. If you just show up to your DME without letting your preferences known it will just cause more delays. You want to make sure they know you want the S9 AutoSet. Don't just say Auto or you might get the S9 Escape Auto which is not the same. If they don't want to give it to you there are other options you will find around here as some DME's will give you an Auto with just a script for CPAP since the Auto will also do straight CPAP. I think if you just state a calm logical reasoning to them you can come out with the machine you want. If you were in the Wichita, KS area I could steer you to a great Doctor! I am a noob to this game...but with all the info on this site I was able to get the machine I wanted...and LOVING the S9 AutoSet! Good luck.
