[How to] Better Thread Titles
#1
Better Thread Titles
When you start a new thread asking for help, please be as specific as possible.

For example:

HELP - help with what? Machine? Mask? Bed bugs? Duct tape removal?
NEWBIE WITH QUESTION - glad you are here! But your thread title will not get you the help you need.
WHAT NOW - no reference point. We have no clue what you mean. Frustration maybe? Problem with supplier? What?

If you create weird titles purposely to draw attention, don't. Most of us read all threads.
Some of us only read the ones we know we can help with.

HELP WITH MASK - better! excellent!
HELP WITH FFM MASK - great! now those with FFM masks will know someone needs help with something they understand!
HELP WITH SIMPLUS - even better! those who use the Simplus can quickly jump in to help you.

See how that works?

NEWBIE WITH QUESTION ABOUT MACHINES - fantastic! the title implies you may not know which one to get. Those who "specialize" in that can jump in immediately.
NEWBIE WITH QUESTION ABOUT MACHINE CHOICES - perfect!
NEWBIE WITH QUESTION ABOUT ASV (or APAP or Resmed or however specific you can get) - This? Perfect.

We've decided WHAT NOW is useless. So is:
FRUSTRATED
MASK
EARS
EYES
THROAT

What about them?

Sometimes all it takes is just another word or two.
FRUSTRATED W/ DME
MASK LEAKS or MASK CHOICES or WHICH FFM
EAR PRESSURE PROBLEM
DRY EYES
SORE THROAT

See how easy that was?

If you took the time to create a thread asking for help, advice, or references, take the time to create the best thread title to get the responses you need.

RE: Better Thread Titles
If you notice your thread title has changed and now has text in brackets [  ], a moderator has had to change the title for you. We've had to get up from our laps of luxury and actually do something.

Don't make me get up again.
