RE: How to move forward?
Here is an update to my post: I went and seen a doctor where I had the sleep study done. He said they do not specify what type of CPAP to give patents. Only state a CPAP machine. He said my machine is fine and I don't need anything more. He just raised my pressure from a 9 to a 10 and said to try it.
I talked to him about changing the pressure on my own and he said that is my choice. He suggested to come back in a month. I asked him how do I know if it is too high and he said you will know because there will be too much leakage at the mask. Sounded weird to me but he is the doctor. That was on 4/30
Today I went in to a local CPAP medical place and talked to them about a new full mask. She asked me my story and I told her that I wake up sometime with a dry mouth and think that I not getting full benefit of the CPAP because I am breathing through my mouth. I tried a chin strap and that did not seem to help. she asked me if I run out of water during the night and I don't. I get 2 days from my water supply. She said she would sell me mask but she did not think that would help much. If i was breathing out my mouth much the water would be gone. I told her what the doctor said about too much pressure and she could not believe it. She said she can not give me advice but that was not correct. She did not recommend me changing the pressure at all. As we talked she did tell me that if you feel any pain in the chest to see the doctor.
So I left there with nothing. I do feel my sleep is better but not what it was. I just changed my settings to 10.4 and I guess I will try that.
I can't get a new machine through my insurance for another few years. I might put more money in my flex spending account for next year and just buy one. We will see how it goes. Going to the doctor did nothing more than turning up the pressure. It is a total guess based on how I feel. I don't like guessing when it come to something like this.
