I have 3800 hours. Do you have any idea what the MTBF
of these machines are? Is 3800 a lot of hours?

I am guessing about a year and a half

The design life of these machines no matter the brand is about 10,000 hours. I'd guess that mtbf is probably a little longer than that. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 12,000 hours.

Not just different from VPAP to CPAP, but different depending on various software version too. They like to move stuff around in the menus when they release new software versions....I guess it gives them something to do.

What the heck is MTBF?

As for the 3800, Gawd created calculators for a reason! 3800 divided by 8 = 475 nights of sleep. A year and almost 3 months.

If they say the machine is to live for 5-6 yrs,
365x8=2920 2960x5=14,600 2920x6=17,520

10,000hrs / 8 = 1,250 days / 365 = 3.42yrs

Figures.

Mean time between failures (see this Wiki article).

...or in the world of plumbers, it could mean Massive Turdy Bathroom Failure. You never want to get one of those, trust me.
