Humidifier operation. [H5i on S9 auto]
I have been waking up with a dry mouth.  I have nasal congestion, so am mostly a mouth breather.  I use a full face mask  Upon checking I found that the metal bottom of te water container is not warm after running all night. Neither is the heated hose or the metal bottom plate in the water container compartment. Is this normal, ordoes it need repair, and by whom.  It has about 199 hours on it.  Would appreciate any help/

RE: Humidifier operation.
What humidifier settings are you running? Auto or Manual? If auto, try switching to manual and about 4 of 1-8 for the humidifier. Do you have a heated hose? If so, try manual at about 75 degrees F. for condensation combat.

From there, adjust up or down till you get best results.

RE: Humidifier operation.
I live in Kansas most of the time. It is terribly dry here much of the winter. In general, the humidity swings wildly. The A10 with the Climateline Air hose is ideal for me. There is a humidity sensor at the exhaust portion of the hose. When I tried to manually set the hose temperature and humidity tank temperatures, I went from rain out to dry mouth even after carefully trying to control the temps. There was just no way to figure it out. I finally set BOTH the hose temp and the humidity tank temp to auto and it has been at an optimum level since. It is very important to make sure that both settings are set to auto or you lose the effectiveness of the system. On really dry evenings I can consume a full tank of distilled water. It has only run completely dry a couple of times. At other times less than half a tank is consumed. Too much variability to keep track up manually. My apartment temperature is usually around 68 degrees at night.

YMMV

PS. My nasal passages are too small to reliably breathe through at night. Prior to a well adjusted A10, I would wake up every night with a terribly dry mouth. That is just one of the reasons that cpap has been so good for me.
Sleep is worth the effort.

RE: Humidifier operation.
The Resmed website has this procedure for testing the humidifier. Haven't tried it myself but may be worth a try:

To confirm whether your H5i is functioning properly, complete the following steps:
1. Disconnect the ClimateLine tubing and remove the water tub.
2. While the S9 is NOT running, place your hand on the heater plate to assess the temperature of the H5i heater plate. NOTE: Do NOT place your hand on the heater plate if the H5i has been running within the last 10 minutes as it could still be hot.
3. Set the humidifier output to 6.
4. Place the unit in warm-up mode and let it run for 1 minute.
5. Place your hand above the heater plate (without touching it) to confirm an increase in heater plate temperature. Don’t place your hand directly on the heater plate as it will be hot.
6. Press the dial for three seconds to enable cooling down mode.
