Humidity setting - Airsense 10 AutoSet - Manual vs. Auto

Humidity setting - Airsense 10 AutoSet - Manual vs. Auto
I am curious to see if other people have had the same experience that I have had.

I have been using the Auto setting for humidity on my machine. I had some issues with condensation in the DreamWear nasal cushion, and never tried any other humidity setting. Since I've been using the N30i, I don't have condensation in the nasal cushion. So, I decided to increase humidity to 8 (maximum) with Manual control, to see if there was any difference in terms of comfort.

What I've found is that a setting of 8 on the AutoSet gives me less humidity than leaving on Auto Climate Control. ResMed has a document on their website that shows that the humidity target is higher with a setting of 8 compared to Auto, but that does not seem to be relevant with my machine. I subjectively think a setting of 8 gives me less humidity (tube temp was same for both manual and Auto), and also find there is more water left in the reservoir in the morning than when the machine is set to Auto.

The Resmed link is:   https://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents/...sa_eng.pdf

Auto setting is ~4-5 on Manual setting according to this chart (I used an online calculator to change relative humidity to absolute, to confirm).

Has anyone else noticed this, or do you get more humidity with Manual somehow?

I have always used the manual setting which is available with the heated Climateline tube. I have not measured the actual delivery of moisture, but consume more water in the humidifier tray in manual mode than in auto. I have never used a setting higher than 4 or 5 with an appropriate tube temperature to prevent condensation.

No answer here about the humidifier. I'm guessing the reason for the rainout problems with the Dreamwear is due to the long tubes running along the cheek. To much exposure to cooler air that allows the condensation.

The condensation in DreamWear cushion is because there is one small exhaust vent in the nasal cushion. The N30i has the same type of tubes running along the cheek, but has many more vents in the actual nasal cushion housing.

I suppose with your particular room that maybe Auto could use more water than Manual 8. That would indicate your room humidity is low.
