Humidity tank levels

Humidity tank levels
Using the previous six masks of various shapes and types and sizes, the water level in the Respironics humidity tank would fall from 100% full to about 75% level.  However with my resmed airtouch mask the level remains very very slightly under 100%,  I checked that the heater plate was warm when I got up.  I borrowed an identical CPAP machine set to my settings and its humidity tank levels also stayed at 100%.

I am puzzled as I would think the water would be going out the mask "relief valve" when there is no breath.  Otherwise this 100% would indicate for all purposes that the mask foam edging is perfectly sealing my face no matter how I toss and turn.  Yet the AHI is still a crappy 4 to 9 range, which I would think be near zero with a "prefect" fit seal mask capturing all the in and out breaths. Dont-know

Anybody else observe water level changes with new different type masks.  Just interesting phenomena. Wink

RE: Humidity tank levels
mine are subject to leaks, more leaks more water, but still being full is a funny one. Are you happy with the humidity, or turn it up more.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

If the apnea aren't CA, I'd add more pressure.

RE: Humidity tank levels
I've experienced that, too - with different masks, and also with different ambient humidity levels in the air.

The humidifier is purely for comfort. So if you're comfortable, then consider yourself lucky to not go through so much water! :-)
