That quote from Dr. Krakow is a nice synopsis of what he does in the first half of Sound Sleep, Sound Mind.

Thanks again for you input.

I have been considering different CBT options & will also look into those books to help me.

I have tried different bedtimes before as early as 10 & as late as 1am without much success. 11pm does give me some room to get a few hrs of sleep even if I am tossing & turning for a long time.
