I'm not a ham yet.. I'm a whole pig!

Oh That's appropriate for someone living in tx... I used to use the repeater K5JD... a long time ago... I dunno if it's still running..

I'm KA6??? I'm a measly, lowly general... BTW parents, brother and my Ex all hold their tickets.. too...

I'm radio active and glow in the dark! Laugh-a-lot ... but only if I get excited Oh-jeez (They didn't really just say that did they?)

I got my "certificate of proficiency" in 2012 and my callsign VA7SDH. Pretty active on VHF/UHF and a bit on HF, limited by my tiny back yard and closeness of neighbours. But I am able to get out a signal of sorts on 80 meters and try to check into the B.C. Public Service net on 3129 from time to time. Back when the flux was high I worked into Europe and South America and some Japan using a little 18 foot high MFJ coil loaded vertical.

I hold a General ticket. KG4xxx. Not on much as I would like. I had to take down my shack space for room renovations and it didn't get put back up. Then some "helpful" friend took down my antenna from the roof, thinking it was some weird TV stuff left over from the former owner. Since I can't get up there and my partner can't get that close to the edge of the roof, I've not gotten it back up so I can't even listen.

I used to have a licence decades ago. Lost a lot of my memory and it long ago laps. Recently starting to get some of my memory back. I am sure things are a lot different now. Just went to QST and found morse code is 5wpm, used to send and receive about 18wpm. I am sure laws have changed. Wondering what activity ham's are doing these days. Can they interface with the web? Using computers in communication?
I for a while sent video like 20 miles on 420 mhz band. Used 20 meters and 2 meters. Wondering if I should go for license again. Technical wise I used to have a 1st class commercial radio license. Used it for a little while in tacoma wa at a tv station. Hopefully just need to review reqierements for the licenses. Any help appreciated

Marthajoy7, Many UHF/VHF repeaters are linked via the internet.
Look up Echolink.

Back in the US as K6DMB in Birmingham, AL. Previously 9V1DB in Singapore. Have not been that active since setting up the shack in the US about a year ago, but maybe will be on more later this year. I usually (99%) work digital using a end fed wire in my attic.
