If you suffer from Sinus Infections please read this!
I have suffered with sinus infections for years. Having 2 or 3 infections a year, it got to the point where my body was becoming resistant to the constant barrage of antibiotics.

Then I read about this treatment a few years ago:

Using your favorite sinus rinser or netipot, add to very warm water 2 sinus salt packets and 1/2 tsp of Xylitol. (Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol that is also an anti-bacterial). Shake or mix until dissolved. Rinse and repeat 3 times per day.

When I first tried this, I had a major sinus infection but within a week, it was completely knocked out. Now, whenever I feel a sinus infection coming on, I add the xylitol to my rinse, and it never even starts up. Yay! No more antibiotics! Not to mention the expensive doctor visits!

Here's what Wikipedia has to say:

Quote:"Cavity-causing bacteria prefer six-carbon sugars or disaccharides, while xylitol is non-fermentable and cannot be used as an energy source - while still being taken up into the cell (due to similar shape) and leaving no room for the six-carbon sugars, interfering with bacterial growth and reproduction."

"Xylitol nasal sprays have also been shown to decrease incidence of acute otitis media as well as being a very effective way of both assisting and stimulating the body's own natural nasopharyngeal washing, and reducing both bacterial colonization and allergenic pollution, with their accompanying problems.[37]"
