 thank you so much for this information and link to threads. 
Yes, I use Windows 10. 
It doesn't seem to me that you are a noob at all! I really appreciate your help. I will read the threads, download the file and hopefully solve the problem.

To import CMS50 data directly into SleepyHead on a Mac, you will need to download the Silicon Labs USB-UART drivers. Google: CP2102 driver mac.
