In anticipation of my BIPAP Re: New Thread
RE: In anticipation of my BIPAP Re: New Thread
Worth trying sleeprider's suggestion of fixed pressure tonight, along with the collar.

FWIW, I don't have problems with chin tucking, but I use a collar to avoid mouth leaks.

Sleeprider,

I am in the process of adjusting the settings. But the machine in S mode does not allow for raising the EPAP to 12, it only goes to 10.

I was able to adjust the IPAP to 18 and turn off Easybreathe.

The ramp appears to only have the choice for minute settings.

So at the moment this is what the settings are:

Mode: S
IPAP: 18
EPAP: 10
Easybreathe: Off
Ti Max: 2.0s
Ti Min: 0.7s
Rise Time: Min
Trigger: High
Cycle: Low
Mask: Full Face

Comfort
Ramp Time: 5 Min
Start EPAP: 4.0
Climate Control: Auto
Tube Temp: 80F
AB Filter: No

Options
Essentials: Plus
Leak Alert: On

What should I do, especially about the EPAP. Will 10 have to do and maybe be ok for what you are hoping for?

That's weird. On my VAuto, I have no such restriction on EPAP.

On my VAuto, I can go up all the way to 25. Don't know why you can't?

oh good grief. I just went back and tried again. This time I could get it to 12.

I swear, I turned and turned before and it would not go higher. I’m sorry for the bother. But while we are at it, are all the settings correct?

Appreciate the help!

Glad you got it fixed. 18/10 would have been a lot of pressure support, but might have been interesting considering where we've already been. The rest of the settings look fine, but you might want the ramp start at 5 or 6. Good luck

Coffee Good Morning Sleeprider and the rest of the gang.

Well, first night on VPAP-S is in the bag.  I think these are very curious results.  Although I once again had long periods of waking up and taking off the mask and stopping the machine, I was able to find some areas of "sleep".

The most curious result to me is that I could not find one period of Flow Limit.  I have even changed the Y-axis for the BAD section view just to make sure.  I then scoured the entire session for Flow Limit and the entire night shows the Flow Limit at 0.0.  Yet, I could not find one decent section of good Flow Rate waves.  NOT ONE.

I did not use the cervical collar because I wanted to see what would happen without it.  My husband said my Leaks were very frequent and this shows in the charts.  I need to get a handle on this and I tried to call the DME yesterday to set up an appointment to figure out the mask situation but they did not call me back like the dang message machine said they would within 2 hrs.  Yeah, right.  I am just going to go there today unannounced and see what can be done.  But, as I can see, even without a leak period, things are still bad on the Flow Rate waves.

What may we discern from last night's data?

Unfortunately, that's only because the machine doesn't report FL in that mode. It's the one downside of using it.

Howdy Slowriter.

Oh.  So should we assume there must be some Flow Limitations to have the results I did?  How do we handle the lack of that info in determining what to do?
