Anyway to cut a long story short in a couple of the case studies they were looking at, they found the children suffering with ODD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, were really suffering from OSA.
Symptoms in the classroom, lack of concentration, not communicating, short term memory loss, not following directions, tiredness, just to name a few.
When these particular children were eventually treated for sleep apnea there problems all but vanished.
I found it very interesting.
Also on the note of young children with sleep apnea, my daughter is a genetic counsellor and has been seeing parents with a baby two months old. The baby stopped breathing on a number of occasions. They were doing tests and ran a genetic profile, that is how my daughter came across the case.
Anyway, it turns out the poor wee baby has sleep apnea.
Just thought I would write about this as I did not know children could be affected by sleep apnea, please excuse my ignorance.
