Is This a Previously Used Machine?
This question comes up occasionally and today I thought I had a previously used machine. After writing a long explanation here about the extra hours in years I didn't have the machine I solved the problem. The first thing to do is look at your Statistics page in OSCAR. Scroll down to the bottom and look under Machine Information. This is where I found info for 3 years before I got the machine in September 2015. I then checked for the manufacture date on the bottom of the machine and found it dated August 2015. I am drawing the conclusion that the Phillips SD card my DME gave me when my first one quit a couple of years ago was used. He just pulled it out of his desk drawer and didn't indicate that fact and didn't tell me it needed to be reformatted. Thought I would share this and see if it helps anyone else.

The first thing to do when taking receipt of a new machine is to check Run hours.

SideSleeper's point is that the SD card was used, not the machine, and his sleep specialist didn't inform him of that fact and alert him of the need to re-format the SD card before starting to use it.
This will probably also mean that his total therapy hours and average numbers are off.

I guess there isn't a way of telling about the AHI and averages being incorrect. It is sort of a moot point now as an order for a new machine just went to the DME for a Resmed Airsense Auto 10 For Her.

The normal process when upgrading a machine would be to transfer the SD card from the old machine to the new one.
Oscar (or any of the other proprietary machine data reading programs) will log the change of machine, including the serial number and other relevant machine specific information.
The only real failure is that the DME should have given you a brand new SD card that had never been in a machine previously.
Ideally you need to move the SD card from machine to machine when you upgrade or change for some reason..
Keep an eye on the capacity available on the SD card from time to time when you are doing an Oscar download, and when it reaches around the 90% full mark change it out for another brand new one, then file the old one away somewhere for safe keeping.

Let me see if I have this straight...I have a Resmed 10 Autoset in the house. I want to buy another to keep in my motorhome. In order to keep everything in order, I just use the one card for both machines? That would be a lot handier than packing and toting from the house to the motorhome every time we go camping. We have pretty much duplicated everything else we need for the two of them.

Thanks for the advice on the card. However the card I'm currently using has 5 years of use on it from me, plus 900 hours that must have been on it before. How do you check the capacity?

Each card has a CPAP's serial number associated with it. Use a separate card for each machine or the serial number and its associated data will be overwritten.

Thanks Crimson Nape. That info you provided is what I understood. In the case of my pre-used SD card, another machine with its own serial number is listed from 2012 to 2015, then mine is listed. Using the calendar, I clicked back to see the earliest date recorded on my card and it was 11 September 2015, when I first got it. I will definitely use a new card on the new machine--and check to see if it has hours on it!

Use a separate card in each machine. OSCAR will track the data for both machines, and display the data in correct date order as long as the time and date are properly set on each machine. You do not want to use one card in multiple machines.
