Is it necessary to turn on the write protect switch on the sd card before importing?
I'm concerned as Windows might right some random files onto it. Does anybody do this or is the completely unnecessary?

No, it is not important with the AirSense 10. The CPAP machine will just ignore any files Windows might write to the SD card. It is only the ResMed S9 that has a problem with any extra files -- if it sees anything it is not expecting it thinks the card is corrupt and reformats it. The AirSense 10 and 11 do not do that.
