CPAP air pressure setting

CPAP air pressure setting
My AHI is 58. Initial air pressure setting was up to 20 on my Resmed Air Sense 10. A sleep study tech said the pressure setting for my AHI should range from 7.8-10.
Who is correct? Getting a pulmonary physician's info help here could take months or not at all.

RE: CPAP air pressure setting
I suspect that your resmed is set to minimum 4 maximum 20....which is mostly the default for auto cpap machines since the cpap will automatically adjust to your needs.  I don't have a resmed, so I can't tell you how to check.   If I am right, then just use it, as is, and then post sleepyhead charts here and some very smart folks will help you home in on better adjustments.  Note: the cpap max at 20 is just a limit...it's very unlikely that your cpap will need to get anywhere near that if your sleep person said your range is 7.8 to 10.

Who is correct?   Both.

Common to initially set an Auto CPAP machine to a wide range to "see" what the machine see's and then adjust to "7.8 - 10" range.

ResMed AirSense 10 is a series of machines, The one it looks like you have is the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet.
You are showing a pressure range of 8 - 40, these machines only go up to 20 cmw.

I strongly suggest that you download SleepyHead software and post a copy of your Sleep Study(s) and your daily charts.  You will fid that we can help you with a great deal of info from those charts.

Hi Ranchhand1,

Welcome to the forum.

It should be set for your needs, however some are just left to range from 4 to 20.
This is just someone being lazy and it should be set up to be a lot closer to your needs.
If you got a manual with the machine you should be able to check, it does show you in the manual.
If not do a search for it here or on the Internet, it is there as well in .pdf.
Go into the clinicians mode and check your settings.

However, you should download Sleepyhead and post your data here.
This will help you get the best out of your treatment.
I am NOT a doctor.  I try to help, but do not take what I say as medical advice.

Every journey, however large or small starts with the first step.
