Is this a good back up machine?
I found a machine that I think I can get it for 150 to $200.00. IT is a RESMED S8 machine heated, mask ,hose ETC. I am wondering If I can get inside this one and set it to my settings easily? I haven't looked to see if the manual is in the manual section yet, Just thought I would ask here first. Just about how old might this machine be? I looked for the price by searching to buy it. But it just says not for sale to public pic for parts only??? I wanted a unit to use for travel. I could keep it packed up . also I would like one in my BUG OUT BAG!-- GOOD DEAL? or should I RUN???

Compact, escape, elite, AutoSet, VPAPxxx, etc." Unless it's a bilevel, it won't do the multi pressure stuff your VPAP does. The "parts only" may be someone trying to get around restrictions on selling medical equipment on ebay or some such thing. Or it could be broken. Is it a local sale? I'd want to see it and power it up.

Useful links. Click here for information on the main alternative to CPAP. If it's midnight and a DME tells you it's dark outside, go and check it yourself.

Hi HILLTOPPER,
It sounds to me like you might be buyin' a pig in a poke; considering the fact that you said that it was for parts only. It might be okay, but then, it might not; and then you will have just wasted $150. I'm not sure the s8 would deliver the therapy you need, given the fact that, in your profile, you say you use a VPAP machine. But mine is not the only opinion so, stick around for more suggestions and best of luck.

Also, the S8, if I remember correctly, uses a Smart Card and requires a special ResMed reader to get the data off of it. You can get some data off the screen. That is, if it is even data capable. If it is a machine you want to keep in a "bug out" bag, then you want one data capable. You want to be able to ensure you are getting the best sleep possible in such a stressful situation.

I went to [commercial DME link removed] or some where & the machine is still for sale. I just said it is listed NOT as for parts list only NOT A JUNKER but new the catalogs do not list a price .. must be the ins companys buy these. BUT it is not for sale to you . It says for listing only
what I see is Resmed S8 Humidaire 3i CPAP machine Maybe sone one will reconise it? Dan Hi Dan, removed the commercial link per the rules. For those who wonder, Dan was referring to Supplier #1. Thanks. -SuperSleeper -----

Of course, it could only have 20 hours of actual usage on it, in which case it's just like "new old stock", almost new but been sitting on a shelf for years. Your profile shows you use a full face mask and the picture really looks like the included mask is nasal pillows but it's still hard to tell, if that's the case then the mask is of little use to you. For a true bug-out bag, you'll need some battery pack's to run your CPAP in case you can't get to a power source or generator for a few days. Don't forget, the world is scheduled to end this Friday so, maybe you won't need a backup machine after all! Ren

I figgure if I go to heaven The air will be as sweet a the morning dew, & no machine will improve on that ,,, BUt If I go where I suspect.plastic will melt
