Migraines and Apnea
#11
RE: Migraines and Apnea
I recently looked up some migraine treatment ideas for a friend of mine. One of the unusual ones I found was the use of IV lidocaine when other meds had failed.

I get migraine aura - vision disturbances, balance issues, and sometimes acute attacks of vertigo which land me in the ER. Being on diltiazem, 500 mg of Vitamin B-2, and 400 mg of magnesium helps prevent much of this. Also avoiding caffeine and avoiding nasal decongestants. The lamotrigine (brand Lamictil) seems to help some, however I am noticing some memory loss. That one may not be worth continuing, for me.

I take Lamictal 50mg 2x daily, Neurontin 300mg 3x daily, Amitriptyline 25mg 1x daily, Prazosin 2mg 1x daily, Meloxicam 15mg 1x Daily, Tizanidine 2mg 2x daily, Tramadol 50mg 2 to 3x daily and vitamin d and a b complex. I'm on a mixture that migraines barely slip through. I get them still about 1 time a month, 2 to 3 times in the winter months and the hottest parts of summer when my fibromyalgia flares are the worst. I get migraines and tension migraines. Both have light and sound sensitivities, balances issues, visual disturbances like blurred vision, auras around people and objects, and the worst ones will have nausea.  The tension migraines come with muscle cramping in my neck down my spine. I have the hope that with the discovery of the apnea the fibromyalgia symptoms will be eased and the tension migraines will reduce.

Yeah, I started to break down pretty early. I sometimes refer to myself as a bowl of alphabet soup. There are so many abbreviations that can be found on my medical chart...lol Dielaughing
