Hi jlklinko, First of all, WELCOME! to the forum. Best of luck on your weight loss but keep in mind that that doesn't necessarily mean that you will "lose" the CPAP. I hope you are successful in losing weight, it can be very difficult to do.

Welcome to the forum!!! We are glad you joined us!!! Welcome

I wish you success with your weight loss. I hope it is successful for you.

I agree with trish6hundred. Just because you lose the weight doesn't mean you lost the CPAP. I should know.

I was on CPAP. I lost about 130 lbs. I had another sleep study to document my present state and am still on CPAP.

Congratulations cbramsey on your weight loss, that's quite a feat!!! How long ago did you lose the weight? I had about 100 to lose, now need another 88!

You do know there's a lot of skinny people who have sleep apnea, right? That weight is but one of several criteria that can lead or cause or contribute to sleep apnea?

However, losing weight is ALWAYS a good idea, not matter what the motivation.

Hi there Paula02,
Thank you for your insight about the weight loss.... Yes, I know there is a possibility that I will always be on CPAP, but I am hoping I am in the population who lose the CPAP too! If not, I won't be considered Morbid Obese anymore when I go to the drs. A maybe win/and a definate win!! I'll take my chances. ;-)
Sincerely,
Jennifer

Shouldn't this thread be in the main forum?
Its CPAP related .... CPAP and weight loss

If the thread is to be about weight loss, no, it goes into the Off Topic. In the main forum, it would quickly get lost. CPAP is just a side topic of what I think she wants this thread to be.

Cool. As long as you keep that in mind and keep using your CPAP, then you are sane(ish).

In March 2008, I weighed in at 281 lbs. Last time I weighed (9/3/12) I came in at 153 lbs. I tried various diets and had no problem losing weight. I had a big problem keeping the weight off. So I ended up having Bariatric Surgery. I did not have the Gastric Bypass. I had a procedure called a Biliopancreatic Diversion / Duodenal Switch. On the day of my surgery (12/16/2010), I weighed 255.9 lbs.

Here is a before and after picture to give you an idea.

The picture on the left was taken in about summer 2010. The picture on the right was taken 12 months post surgery.
