Low resistance turns of cpap

Low resistance turns of cpap
Hi,
Have been using my CPAP for many years now.  Resmed S9 with humidifier, heater hose, and nasal pillows.  Usually when I clean my mask and hose in the morning, I reconnect it to the heated hose and run it for 10 minutes to remove any residual moisture.  As of about two weeks ago, the CPAP shuts off (Not completely) if I do this.   If I try to run it with out it being on my face, or my finger blocking the most of the hose off, it will start to shut down in about 10 seconds.... Almost as if the chamber was open... but no error message, it just shows a cool down message on the screen.

Has anyone had this happen?  Could I have reset something?   The only other odd thing is that before this happened, at times the pressure seemed too high... I would have too much resistance breathing out.  Not any more though.   (all seals seem to be good.)

I'd turn the smart start off, the sensor can play up.
I'd also get some sleepyhead charts up, I doubt 4/18 is the right pressure for you.
I also wouldn't run my machine just to dry a hose. there is the cool-down that may be enough. or I'd run 2 hoses and swap them every night.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

Would you expand on how to do the sleepy head charts.  I vaguely remember what you are talking about, but it has been a long while since I installed the software and reviewed data.  Might need a link or two.

Thanks,
Kevin

Download #SleepyHead, then insert SD card in your computer. Take a screenshot of the daily page.

Once you have that set up, follow the tutorials in my signature line. This will show you how to organize the graphs. Use imgur to post your data here.

If you do decide to run 2 hoses, I'd hang the hose up straight and let the natural rise and fall of hot and cold air circulation. If you bend it in half, it may inhibit the air to circulate through.

sorry about the double post, I thought I was in edit.

RE: Low resistance turns of cpap
HI,
disabled the smart start, then it also puts the option in the smaller setup screen.. and I turned that off.   The CPAP does not shut off if I leave it on for a few minutes after cleaning it to dry out the pillows and tubes faster.   The reason I want it to dry faster is because of potential mildew or anything else... and It just smells better at night.   It makes me feel better... about it.  Then I hang the hoses.    Every once in a while (2- 3 -4 times/year)  I use Control III and soak the inside of the main heater hose to disinfect/clean it.

Commercial Link Removed. Search Amazon for Control III Concentrate Disinfectant.

One thing I have noticed under smart start is that I can breath out easier...  Although if I am winded or not relaxed, the air flow is not quite enough... but that may not be a bad thing.    I have also noticed that under smart start I seem to have less bags under my eyes.   However, I have yet to check (and consistently monitor) my sleep patterns.  I keep forgetting to put my Msft Band on... or set it.

I will follow up, hopefully within the next few weeks.

Thanks for all the help,

Kevin
