MRI Viewing Software
#1
Has anyone had an MRI recently and gotten their MRI on a CD? I did and the CD has a file called viewer.exe. If I double click on it, it apparently wants to download the software from the internet from RAM Software (I think). Has anyone done this? Just a little concerned about the safety of downloading this software.

Best Regards,

I have an MRI CD from 2009. When I want to view it, it too seems to pull a viewer from the internet; but I find no trace of it after viewing.

I have MRI CD from husband's brain scan couple yrs ago... My linux doesn't care for .exe files much Wink i was able to view the files in the subfolders with a plain old image viewer.

Tongue Suck Technique for prevention of mouth breathing:
  • Place your tongue behind your front teeth on the roof of your mouth
  • let your tongue fill the space between the upper molars
  • gently suck to form a light vacuum
Practising during the day can help you to keep it at night

There are two programs I use to view MRI CDs.

MicroDicom and RadiAnt Dicom viewer. Both can be found as free versions and downloaded. MicroDicom has a version for Mac.

If software is included on the CD and it won't work, copy the entire CD onto your hard drive then try from there, not the CD. That viewer is usually eFilmlite. I think you can download it, too, but I've never been a fan of it. RadiAnt is my current fave although the "free" version has to be updated in order to continue using it.

All of the files seem to be in .CAB files which, if I remember correctly is a compressed file that Microsoft used to use to distribute their OS files. My Windows 7 does not know what to do with these files or does the viewer handle that too? Sorry forgot to mention this earlier.
