CPAP settings

CPAP settings
Hello,

My CPAP was set to 8 CPAP and my ahi average was around 2. I want to decrease my ahi so I changed it to range 7-9 auto set. My ahi increases to 3.4.

Can someone help me understand how to use this info to alter the settings?

RE: CPAP settings
Welcome to the forum.

What happened to your CAI, what was your event breakdown. Did you change EPR?
I can guess, but I'd much rather provide advice based on data.

download OSCAR, organize your charts per the organize link in my signature, then attach the screenshot. That will provide data on what is happening and why.

RE: CPAP settings
Normally, we use the median or 95% pressure to gauge a pressure range.
We also take into consideration what type of apnea your AHI is made of, Obstructives, Hypopneas, or Clear Airway. We also look at flow limitations. One thing you don’t want is higher pressure if you are prone to Clear Airway events, as that can make it worse.

If you want more precise advice, please download OSCAR software. Then post a screenshot of the daily page. The complete instructions are below in my signature line on how to organize the graph for viewing and using the attachment feature to post your graph here.

RE: CPAP settings
Welcome to the forum. AHI will vary from night to night for many reasons. I would not be concerned over the change you mentioned unless it is a long term trend. We may be able to help you optimize your settings but not without more data. Please download the free OSCAR software and post one or more screen shots of your daily data. See the links below for how to get and use the software. The most important charts are event flags, flow rate, pressure, leak rate, and flow limit. They can be dragged up and down with the mouse to get the order you want. Be sure to delete the pie chart and calendar as described in the instructions. I'm assuming there is an SD card in your machine. If not you will need to get one. Any standard size card with a capacity of 2-32GB will work. We look forward to helping you. Also, if you have a copy of your sleep study, please post it with personal information redacted. If you don't, please tell us the results as best you can recall.
