Possible Palatal Prolapse?
Can you tell from the CT - do i have PP or not? Or it's not possible?
I must decide what treatment needed - uvulopalatoplasty or xPAP or even something different.
In my previous tread i wrote next:
"i have AHI = 9\hour, 0 CA and too much microaurosals. I suspect UARS ("suspect" bcs it's not possible to diagnose it in my country) - i have narrow jaws and therefore narrow nasal airways."
If i have PP - cental apnea will shown by sleep study or not (not always)?
I'm suffering from common symptoms - daytime sleepness, fatigue, cognitive issues.
Here is my CT
RE: Possible Palatal Prolapse?
Kakadai, we specifically do not offer "medical advise" or diagnostics on the forum, and very few if any of us would be qualified to interpret CT, Xray or other medical images. As to whether Palatal Prolapse is "possible", I suppose it is, but a description of the symptoms is actually more helpful than these images. Palatal prolapse has a characteristic respiratory flow signature and is felt as a sudden blockage of nasal flow during exhale. It is quite different from inspiratory flow limitation or obstruction which is the signature of UARS. We prefer to look at charts from Oscar, however you do not have a compatible CPAP.
A sleep study can diagnose numerous obstructive conditions, but rarely is any diagnosis suggested other than to document obstruction and arousals as interpreted from a polysomnograph. Actual diagnosis of medical conditions is usually done by medical specialists that can observe the airway under anesthesia, and surgically repair malformations of the nose, throat and upper airway.
RE: Possible Palatal Prolapse?
Thank you, Sleeprider.
Unfortunately, i have no qualified sleep doctors in my country and even more precisible diagnostic, sleep medicine are in deep depression. So I'm doing self-diagnostic.
I have more or less good dream, but my symptoms are terrible - very stronge asthenia, it's hard for me to wake up, decreased cognitive functions and many others.
Will try Resmed Aircurve 10 Auto.

kakadyi - To add to Sleeprider's post above. You may wish to consider starting with the least invasive therapy first. If it doesn't work, then you may wish to pursue the more invasive (painful) therapies.
