Now I am stuck with a useless machine that I can't tinker to get the compliance I need to sleep properly. Is there something I can do?

My technician refuses to unlock my machine. What to do?
I have a Weinmann Prisma SMART. I have terrible compliance, and people tell me I should try to change the pressure, but that option is locked for me. My technician told me its forbidden to unlock it.

In the above black banner, click on the "CPAP Setup Manuals" and follow the instructions. It is a manual process so the response will not be instant. That manual will have the info you are looking for.

RE: My technician refuses to unlock my machine. What to do?
In the meantime, this will get you into the Clinicians menu so you can make the changes needed.
Weinmann Prisma series with buttons: When in clock mode, press and hold the rightmost buttons (menu and ramp) for a few seconds until MENU CLIN appears. Then press the + (settings) button. Weinmann Prisma series with touch screen: Press and hold the "info" icon for a few seconds, then choose "login" to enter setup.

RE: My technician refuses to unlock my machine. What to do?
Very helpful responses by Bonjour and Opalrose as always. I will only add that, if you believe you are having compliance problems, and your provider is not proactively working with you to improve the treatment you are receiving, I'd highly encourage you to find a new health care provider asap.
I've been on Cpap for many years, (since the 90's), and was blessed by connecting with a very talented, and down to earth Dr. who actually helped me avoid the way too common DME rip-offs. That scored big points with me, and as my checkups continued, he explained how to read the reports, what they meant, and what adjustments he felt were correct. Over the years, he gave me the card reader and software and encouraged me to keep track too. Too bad he passed away a number of years ago, but his wisdom is deeply missed. The point is, never settle for poor service in anything, especially when it comes to your health. Good luck.

RE: My technician refuses to unlock my machine. What to do?
I went to Google online, put in "How to Unlock (name of my CPAP machine). It took me to a YouTube video. The guy on the video said he was not supposed to show people how to do this, then he laughed and show the viewer how to do it. I had to watch it a couple of times and write the directions down. It was very simple after I got it figured out. It was the best thing I did. I told my doctor what I did. She said the tech could make the changes. What a joke. Her tech doesn't do much of anything. I hope you can find the directions online. I told my doctor not letting the patient make changes is a burden on the patient and a reason why patients stop using CPAP machines.

It's your therapy, not theirs. Good on ya for making this move.
