Mask problem
I've been using the Swift FX for Her for several years and most of the time I have only a few problems. I also have the Pad-a-Cheek covers to make it more comfortable. However I am noticing that my hair is getting thinner, especially under the mask straps. Is the hair thinning an indication that I have the mask tightened too much, or is this a normal happening? I like my cpap machine and I'm grateful to have it, but I would prefer not to be bald either

RE: Mask problem
I have been on my CPAP for about 9 years and have not experienced thinning of my hair other than normal thinning due to the aging process. If it is thinning only in the area of the head gear, I suppose it is possible. All head gear is not the same. I keep adapting my first head gear to any new masks I get. Some of the head gear that comes with the masks are not comfortable for me so I just use my old head gear.

RE: Mask problem
Well, I'm male and 62 and my hair was thin before I started using my Swift FX just a week ago. I may be the wrong one to ask since I'm a relative "newbie" because I'm not sure what my long-term strategy will be, but at this point I'm wearing a chinstrap and putting it on first. I then put the FX on so its straps are on top of the chinstrap, so it doesn't move around much or contact my hair (what's left of it on top :-).
I've also noticed that I need the FX straps to be tightened very little. With almost no tightening of the straps (to the point of feeling loose) I've had almost no leaks after getting my machine properly adjusted. I do have the covers on that came with the FX, so very little of the FX strap actually contacts my hair or skin other than the pillows on my nose. I also discovered that using a folded-up handkerchief under both the chinstrap and FX strap on top of my head make them more comfortable. Perhaps something like this would prevent the strap from moving around at night and potentially "encouraging" your hair to fall out. ![]() (08-15-2013, 05:48 PM)GrammaBear Wrote: I've been using the Swift FX for Her for several years and most of the time I have only a few problems.
