Max pressure on Aircurve ASV

RE: Max pressure on Aircurve ASV
I was diagnosed with complex sleep apnea. I have A-fib, probably aggravated by SA. I'm on Medicare and my doctors, in my opinion don't put a high priority on Medicare patience.

Danny, we need to see actual #SleepyHead screen shots to understand what exactly is going on. Everybody is trying to guess and make suggestions but without the data it's just a guess. See SleepRider's signature for instructions on taking a screenshot and uploading it.

If you find the machine is raising the pressure while you're still awake, just blow back hard - that will give it a message and it will back off for a while.

RE: Max pressure on Aircurve ASV
Well that worked fine. Without this chart we were all off in guessing your settings. You have a fixed EPAP at 11.0 and are in a fixed ASV mode. With those settings a maximum PS of 11 should be sufficient to resolve most CA. I think the events you were experiencing previous to this change could have been obstructive due to too much pressure. Your settings are best described has ASV 16/11 PS 5-11. Your basic pressure is fixed at 16 IPAP / 11 EPAP and the IPAP can still go to 22 cm giving a maximum pressure of 22/11.

There is still a LOT of room for you to reduce pressure. You could switch to ASV auto, then use an EPAP range of 8.0-11.0 with a minimum PS of 0 and maximum PS of 11.0. That would give you a pressure as low as 8.0/8.0 which for most people reduces CA. If you need pressure support for comfort, a minimum PS of 3 to 5 (your current setting), would still result in lower pressures. The ASV auto mode would increase EPAP pressure automatically if obstructive events occurred, but only if needed. There is a lot you could do for your comfort, but you need to get a better understanding of this machine and the settings you are using. Please be sure to order the clinical manual and consider reading how a patient would be ideally titrated by reading this focusing on pages 27 and 41 (ASV and VPAP Adapt) https://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents/...lo_eng.pdf
