Hose Cleaning

RE: Hose Cleaning
Last week the CPAP sales rep said that masks with silicone should be washed everyday. Hose once a week. Said that their experience is that, skin oils and exceptionally tiny face dirt, can wear down the masks seal. Started washing the mask every day now using GAIA Baby Shampoo (Soap & sulphate free, pH neutral, low foaming).

Mask: Washing every day vs Washing every week or fortnight, would that degrade the silicone mask shape faster overtime? Maybe.
If washing every day keeps the mask around longer, worth the 5 minutes to wash everyday.

not a nice thing..

Just my 4 cents worth. Smile

4 cents? Darned inflation.

Ah, yes, life in Florida. Everything's wet, all the time, even the air.

RE: Hose Cleaning
In my former RT job I can tell you that I saw some dirty equipment and one horrible infection from dirty CPAP equipment. I do a once per week wash and clean the nasal pillows a few times each week. I consider once per week cleaning the minimum interval. I would never suggest letting the hose go six months without cleaning.
