Mixed Sleep Apnea

RE: Mixed Sleep Apnea
Do you have your Auto CPAP, if so use it for a night. That should give a good indication. We would be looking for Centrals, really don't care about obstructive events for 1 night.

I no longer have that original Auto CPAP  . . . all I have are my former Respironics ASV and my current AirCurve ASV, the former Respironics did not do well for me and the current ResMed AirCurve ASV is doing very well for me . . . so maybe better to ask my RT or sleep doctor to see what they recommend . . .

You could put your ASV in CPAP mode for a night

Thanks - I am going to see if I can find a friend who might have a spare auto cpap and or possibly message my doctor to see what he suggests . . . hmmm, i wonder if he would recommend an overnight sleep study . . .

As it appears you’ve got the same ASV I’ve got, it’s quite easy to switch to CPAP like bonjour suggests. Simply enter the clinician menu to edit Mode to CPAP.

Thanks, the concern I have regarding it is having it on a specific setting, rather than an auto-type where it can just adjust to your needs during the night . . .

That's fine. I just wanted you to know what to see if you chose to change your ASV into a CPAP. I'm not attempting to put words into bonjour's mouth, but I think he's trying to suggest using a CPAP overnight to produce data to see what the Clear Airway count shows. I'm not sure, but a straight CPAP might reveal this more clearly than the auto CPAP. This helps indicate ASV need or not. This change from ASV to CPAP is reversible in less than a minute.

Exactly,  I'm not trying to treat you, I want to try something that will show that you without doubt, still have Centrals.  CPAP mode is in fact the best mode to try that.

The ResMed ASV (at least in ASV mode) doesn't report CA events.

That's true. From the clinician manual: Central sleep apnoea detection (CSAD) is not active in ASVAuto and ASV modes. I think that infers (but doesn't state categorically) that central detection is available in CPAP mode. One for a bit of experimentation.
