RE: My DLINK DGS-108 switch died last night
Update:
oops... spoke too soon. It seems likely that I tossed a good switch.
I just noticed that in all my swapping I had not reconnected the internet cable from the switch to my OPPO BluRay player.
So, I plugged it in, and the whole network went berserk. And, I lost internet connectivity.
Before I condemn the OPPO -- I suppose it could be a bad cable. I'll have to investigate that later.

Well, at least I now have 4 open PoE ports to put security cameras on.

Sounds like you may have looped it.

Using FlashAir W-03 SD card in machine. Access through wifi with FlashPAP or Sleep Master utilities.

I wanted to learn Binary so I enrolled in Binary 101. I seemed to have missed the first four courses. Big Grinnie

I cannot find a path in which a packet could get looped.

your bluray player may be spewing crap on the ethernet interface.

I've seen windows do that a few times, even on machines that were in standby... (not the same brand nic).

"networks down" "turn off xxx machine" "hey, look! network's up!

try yanking the power to the brp, see if it plays nice when powered back up.

Tongue Suck Technique for prevention of mouth breathing:
  • Place your tongue behind your front teeth on the roof of your mouth
  • let your tongue fill the space between the upper molars
  • gently suck to form a light vacuum
Practising during the day can help you to keep it at night

Which is why I like my OPPO BDP-103. It's actually got 3 circuit boards: Power, Audio, and Video processing. Why they could not squeeze a quiet 40mm fan into this design is a mystery.
