RE: My ResMed S9 Elite is a used cpap. I need help with cpap treatment
Good morning!
Suggestions are very helpful
I hadn't read them last night

I slept for 8.7 hours
EPR was 3
AHI was 3.7

I'll reduce EPR tonight to 2

Thanks

Wonderful hints here. I have sleepyhead. I've reorganized the page. I think
Now I'm figuring out how to take a screenshot with my iMac so I can share it.

Thanks jaswilliams.

I'm sorry. File is rotated, and too large. Sad

Your file is okay, but would be better as an attachment. We now know essentially all events are obstructive at pressure 11.0 with EPR 3. Take pressure to 12.0 and don't change anything else, and it should be better. Everything looks pretty good with normal median respiration rate at 16, tidal volume 360 and other good things going on. A little more pressure should reduce OA events, which at 3.8 are acceptable, but room for improvement.

Ok. But time is wrong.
I just had a sleep study.
I haven't had one in 10 years. I've been without a sleepdoc since Doc Inouye retired about 5 years ago

Once I meet my sleep doc I'll adjust pressure.

My numbers were good without EPR. Typically better than one.
I just turned on EPR set at 3

I shared the results above.

BTW I thought I did attach it. I saved it as a PDF. Before attaching it.

My pressure was set at 9-11 in 2008 after a sleep study. It became 11 a year or so later. I had my second machine, a Respironics cpap that was noisy but ok otherwise.
I bought my ResMed S9 Elite about 4 years ago. It's much better

S9 Elite with humidifier and heated hose
ResMed N20 nasal mask. Machine set at nasal pillows because ResMed says so in literature that comes with the mask

Setting 11

AHI has been between 0-.7 most days, until I turned EPR on

3.7 last night with EPR set at 3

3 night before with EPR at 3

I'm going to turn EPR OFF until I see my sleep doc. Dr Awad

Dave, your obstructive apnea is controlled by CPAP pressure at 12.0. EPR is a form of bilevel, and in bilevel therapy, we use the EPAP to control OA, and pressure support to minimize hypopnea and flow limits. So, it's not a surprise that OA increased when you added EPR 3. With an auto CPAP, the machine would have automatically compensated. If you found EPR comfortable, then all you need to do is increase pressure to compensate for the lower exhale pressure, or decrease the amount of EPR you are using. It's pretty simple, and I would not worry about talking to the doctor first. Just understand how this is working, and you can manage your therapy and get great results with maximum comfort.
