The monitoring is for the insurance companies.  You have to show compliance for a certain number of months and hours or they will not approve payment.

Whether the DME uses MyAir,MyView, etc, it doesn't matter if all they do is look at the summary and the AHI number. The health industry needs to train the doctors to look past the AHI number. Even people with AHI <5 can have events that affect them, I'm one of those people. I've been to two doctors now, and they never got into the details of the events, and only said "your numbers look good, and you are doing great.". I guess we are all on our own to monitor ourselves and use sleepyHead.

Granted it's sad when you get some Doctors who don't care about anything but the AHI. However I wouldn't lump all of them into that group. The medical field set the bar at 5 AHI and the insurance companies enforce it. It could be worse. Overseas they are starting to set the cutoff at 10 AHI and there's a push to do it here also. The Government is behind that one to save money.  Oh-jeez

DME's can look all they want, but they can't just change settings they don't like.  If they change something, they need a doctor's prescription. My doctor and I had that conversation at my last visit because i adjust my own with his blessings. He looked at it before my appointment. He said the dme cannot do anything without his permission, inferring that he can't go change my settings back.
