RE: Philips Respironics Recall Replacement Tally
Supersleeper, it sounds like anyone with a machine purchased used, is S.O.L. Many qualified machines will no match with an original dispensing DME. Not surprising, considering what we know of Philips.

Philips will still remediate your device, but we may reach out to you for additional information that would normally be supplied by your DME.

Yeah, that could extend the time to get a replacement.

I had wondered how many people might try to get a 'free' CPAP by entering a number of a machine they no longer owned (broken or sold) or just entering serial numbers that were of correct and/or similar format unit they got hit. Philips needed to have some mechanism in place to prevent fraudulent claims.

RE: Philips Respironics Recall Replacement Tally
I received my replacement from Philips for my auto BIPAP. I had heard nothing for 9 months. I received an email last week with "prioritization" information. I qualified based on using supplemental oxygen, and today Fed Ex dropped the box at my door with no advanced notice. There are instructions to return the old machine including a notice that you may be billed if you do not return it. I am now almost 100% sure I will return it. I have removed the plastic unit with the foam in it, and I will keep that.

If you qualify for prioritization, I would encourage you to pursue it. Good luck everyone!

We have a new player on the board. First-time reporting of "DS1 - New/Refurb from DME, etc." Does this mean PR is getting DS1's returned, refurbishing them and then reissuing them?

Interest seems to be getting a bit thin. If this is the case, I'll probably just do an update whenever we have enough respondents to make an update worth while.

Thank you to those who have cast their vote.

RE: Philips Respironics Recall Replacement Tally
I was thinking it would be lovely to be able to vote…however I haven’t received a replacement for either of the A40’s I currently have - despite phone calls promising it’s being shipped…lots of chat about how rare they are, how hard it’s been for them to obtain, very little about the flecks of foam I tap out of the bacterial filter I use since I was informed of the recall…to this day, and beyond, it seems. If I was to replace with ResMed, I’d have to buy a Stellar 150, of which I cannot pony up.
Ah, to be a ‘user’ instead of the customer…

RE: Philips Respironics Recall Replacement Tally
I'm in Sydney, Australia, and have a REMstar Auto A-Flex, which I wasn't actually using at the time the recall was announced.
The Philips website said the REMstar was affected by the recall, so I registered it many months ago.
I heard nothing until an SMS arrived on 8 June 22, with a link to a web page that said my REMstar would be replaced by a new Dreamstation 2, but after I provide the current settings of the REMstar so they can set up the DS to match.
They want either a report from my sleep practitioner or for me to send them the SD card. Handwritten lists of settings are expressly verboten. The machine was set up by me, not a sleep practitioner, so I've opted to send the SD card.
The last sleep specialist that I saw did not alter settings or download data - he just checked the usermode info (AHI etc) and said "Great! Carry on ...".

Philips will notify me as to how and where to send the SD card.

Since I haven't actually received a fixed machine, I haven't voted yet.

Only when I came here to Apnea Board did I discover that the DS2 data are encrypted, etc, etc, which makes me think I'd have been better off de-foaming the REMstar and keeping it.
I might still do that. I could claim that because the proposed replacement machine encrypts its data it is not an equivalent replacement, so the deal is off.
Warranty? Ha ha ha.  I think the year of manufacture was 2011, and I bought the machine, used,  from a nice lady who'd replaced it with a compact machine to take on her frequent travels. And I get the impression that the thing is built like a tank and will probably keep going perfectly for as long as I do.

What do you punters think? Should I let PR give me a DS2?

RE: Philips Respironics Recall Replacement Tally
BlindFreddie..........

I got a DS2 as a replacement for a DS1. The DS2 does what it's supposed to and my AHI numbers have generally been below 1.0. Presumably an OSCAR version that can read the DS2 SD card is in the works and may be out in the near future. For now I've been using DreamMapper as a quick check of numbers daily which usually works OK. I have the DS2 on a nightstand 'backwards' so the water chamber is to the front and easy to access and remove. This puts the hose to the rear which goes behind the headboard of the bed up to a hose hanger. Two settings that I wanted to play with are not user accessible, 'Auto-Start' and 'Opti-Start'. Those appear to be set from Care Orchestrator by the DME or your care provider. The DS2 works as intended and filters and other accessories have been easily obtainable at a reasonable cost.

If you send  an SD card to Philips, probably make a copy to a cheap card to send in rather than the original.

RE: Philips Respironics Recall Replacement Tally
Put in request for replacement for DS1 Bipap and System One Bipap in June, 2021 for my brother. Received NEW DS1 Bipap in May 2022.  Debating whether to return the bipap. No word on when his backup System 1 will be replaced or whether it will (will there just be one replacement per patient?).  If it will not be replaced, then I want to buy the replacement part on Amazon so he has a backup unit. Concern is that they will discontinue availability of replacement parts on System One (humidifier bin, for instance). I've already removed the foam from the System One. Just want information so I can make decision.

edited to add: Replacement came directly from Philips with his prescription already entered. There was no notification prior to arrival.

RE: Philips Respironics Recall Replacement Tally
We are literally days away from a release of Oscar which will read DS2 data. All beta testing is complete. Please do not hold on to an old machine because of concern the Dreamstation 2 cannot be used with Oscar. Unless Philips sends out a firmware update that causes the data to be re-encrypted, You can expect data capability in Oscar by next week. In fact, it is live as of now... http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-...s-released
