"REPLY with Quote" button - Don't use it if you don't have to
Members have several options when replying to a post on Apnea Board.  In most cases you can just use the quick reply box (at the bottom of the thread) or the large REPLY button.

The Reply with Quote button is available if it's absolutely necessary to include part or all of a previous post in your reply.  But if you quote an entire post (which might already include other quoted posts), all you're going to do is irritate people-- especially if you produce a screen full of quotes and a one line reply.

So we simply ask you to think about it before you reply - the Reply with Quote button should not be the default method of replying.

Just as an example, not every Apnea Board member has their eyesight.  We've tried to make Apnea Board accessible for folks with vision-impairment.

For example, Advisory Member trish6hundred is legally blind and uses a screen reader to read forum posts here.  So imagine Trish's frustration when the screen reader has to read multiple quotes outloud of the exact same post over and over and over again, because a member keeps quoting everyone's post when replying.

Sighted people can simply scroll down through the quoted parts.  For Trish and other visually-impaired members who use a screen reader, they're forced to listen to everything you quote again.

Please take this into consideration folks.

RE: "REPLY with Quote" button - Don't use it if you don't have to
As an example on how to make things less annoying for other forum members...

If you're replying to user SamSmith393, please don't quote his entire post.

Instead, simply say something like "I agree with SamSmith393 mostly about the DreamStation machines, but also I'd like to remind everyone that they have issues with...".  That way, readers know you're responding to SamSmith393's post without quoting the ENTIRE post or large portions of it.

Or, you can simply quote SamSmith393's post PARTIALLY, (not quoting the entire post or several paragraphs of it).  If you must use the Quote with Reply button, then PLEASE only quote the portions of SamSmith393's post that are absolutely necessary for folks to know what you're replying about.  Delete the parts of the quote that aren't needed.  Cut it down to one or two short sentences in other words-- if you must use the quote function.

Remember, PEOPLE HERE have ALREADY read SamSmith393's post.  You don't need to quote the entire thing again.

 Thanks
