Nasal pillow nostril irritation

RE: Nasal pillow nostril irritation
Each pillow is adjustable, yes. I suppose you could have a small in one and a medium in the other.

I love the Breeze. If you sleep on your back a lot, you may not like it. The headgear is solid, metal and plastic, so when I lay on my back, it can dislodge. But I predominantly sleep on one side.

I just got the Puritan Breeze and I LOOOOOVE IT!

I have used the Mirage Swift FX nasal pillows and those work better for me.
I also have a full face for when I have a cold. I am naturally a mouth breather but the
nasal pillows have kept me from doing that. Never had to wear a chin strap.

My biggest problem is that my arms and hands were going numb because of a crick
in my neck from sleeping on my back using full face or nasal pillows. I have always
sleep on my sides. Whenever I used the gear it would become misplaced if I didn't
stay on my back.

Anyway, long story short, the Breeze cured all that. I can sleep on my side and toss and turn
with no problem and my mask stays on. I do tuck a piece of soft foam between my forehead
and the mask frame to adjust the pressure toward my nose. It makes it very comfortable.

Let me know if you need a picture, I can upload one. Oh oh, almost forgot, I also use
Chap ICE medicated lip balm around my nostrils to avoid chapping. It works great. I have
very sensative nostrils and barrier cream didn't work for me.

Yep, that's the mask I use. Absolutely love it.

One thing to try if it is lifting up when you lay on your back: the halo straps hook to this moveable bracket thing. Remove the mask hose and pull this out. Put the hose back. Flip the bracket so it is facing toward you and it's groove now holds the outside of the hose vs the underneath. When you lay down, you'll have to adjust it to where it is comfortable but I have found this to be the perfect solution. There's a youtube video of someone showing how to do it.

Hi bryank1

I have been using the ResMed Swift FX mask for the past 4 weeks, and am really amazed with the fit and comfort, compared to the nasal mask I have used in the past.
The mask comes with S, M, & L pillows. For smaller face fit, you can also try the Swift FX for Her, or the Swift FX Bella, which also has a different headgear alltogether.

It took me three minutes (or less) to discover I didn't like nasal pillows. Glad there are options out there.

That's about how long it took me to fall in love with them. I haven't worn the regular nasal mask since.

It just goes to show you how the choice of mask is a very personal one. It's the hardest part about getting CPAP therapy to work well.

I'm with Sleepster. I didn't want one. Was determined to not use one. We went through a LOT of masks and finally he talked me into trying the Breeze. I loved it. Every nasal mask I tried was leaking into my eyes.

I tried a "new" nasal pillow a year or so ago and same problem. They'd stop carrying the Breeze so I was using other nasal pillows but none of them I liked. Either I hated it because it it was noisy, even when in place. So after the nasal mask, I was complaining I wanted the Breeze back and they were carrying it again!

It was like finding an old friend.

I love my Swift FX pillows as well. I rotate between the regular headgear and the Bella loops.

I initially used Lansinoh on the pillows to help with irritation, but don't anymore. After a while it seemed like it made the pillows slip around too much.
