Need advice for full face mask to use with ASV machine

Need advice for full face mask to use with ASV machine
Husband has the resmed ASV and as per my understanding its very important to not have leaks. He has a nasal mask and it's hard to seat. Not impossible, it's just hard to get it done well. It blasts air at certain points of the night.  Plus he's still doing a little mouth exhalations.

He has a beard and mustache.

Hi Artapnea. The considerations for an ASV are the same as any other machine:
  • Large leaks >24 L/min will inhibit the machine from doing its work properly and give unreliable results.
  • Smaller leaks are OK as far as the machine goes (it can accommodate), but they can disturb your sleep (and/or your partner's).

There are lots of different masks, to suit every face size and shape. To some extent it becomes a case of trial and error. There is a LOT of information to be found in the mask primer.

I agree with DeepBreathing on this. Unfortunately, the answer to the right mask has a uniqueness just like our faces. There's just not a one-size-fits-all answer or mask. Even if dimensions were helpful, the fit size could be off in some way. The real determining factor to see if it will work well is to try it. Supplier #1 and likely others have a guarantee return within something like 30 days. Read the info before ordering to be certain on anything like this.

If the mask is adjusted right and fits well enough to not leak, it will work for all CPAP class machines including the ASV.

Believe it or not, the easiest mask to seal it the one with the least surface area. Nasal pillows is easier than a nasal mask, which is easier than than a full face. Maybe he should go the opposite direction and try nasal pillows unless the leak s coming from his mouth.
