Need help,Having Low compliance
#11
RE: Need help,Having Low compliance
Part of my own mask removal issues in the past was a supposed intolerance to PAP and mask. But the big issues were really getting pressure set to be helpful in combatting events and enough air flowing to feel comfortable. Then it was down to training myself to leave the mask on for 6-8 hours and not give in to taking the mask off early.

Face it, wearing a PAP mask isn't normal. But somewhat like medicine that tastes nasty, realize it's necessary for your health. You need to build a reasonable acceptance to masking up with PAP on for your sleep session. If you create a habit of taking the mask off after 2 hours and don't fight against taking it off or don't make an effort to put it back on, you're reinforcing the negative habit. You can become your own worst enemy in this Apnea therapy. Maybe you need to have a real sincere and honest self discussion and decide where you're going with this.

RE: Need help,Having Low compliance
I'll revisit this, as you have not posted or gotten any feedback for a while. I suspect that you are not aware that you have removed your mask, therefore the thought-provoking comments about your dis-interest may not ring true for you.

Question: When do you actually become aware that the mask is off? How much time did you sleep without the mask, do you suppose? How far is the mask 'flung' upon removal?

There is at least some indication that you may have abruptly finished a REM sleep period at the moment you 'tore' your face flange off, and started it on its 'journey'. Although REM sleep is often terminated in a brief period of awakeness, most people don't even know they have woken some, and drift off to sleep remembering nothing.

Just a little more that is suggestive of REM sleep (besides the low TV and rapid breaths), that most people take an average of 90 minutes after sleep onset to enter into the REM sleep phase. 2 hours for being into and then just finishing with a period of REM sleep is right in that ballpark.

Hopefully, things are going well with you. Give us another post, or note, on how it is going.
