Regarding sudden onset and apnea.....
Apart from the likely possibility that the apnea didn't suddenly appear, but suddenly made itself known as a major problem, I would thinking there are several obvious ways in which apnea could be "sudden onset": esophageal burns, inflamed throat parts, neurology issue affecting the throat muscles.... If the "sudden onset" (or at least when you suddenly notice) involves central apneas, the likeliest scenario would be a stroke. There would, of course, be other conditions that might have the same effect, e.g. concussion and alzheimer's. |
