New CPAP, new thread
RE: New CPAP, new thread
Here's last night. I was restless (no pun intended) near the end
of the night, and was on my right side for a while. That may
explain the mess at the end and the leak and C-S numbers.

Maybe we should try another night with tape?

I'm having an angiogram done on Friday. Depending on
what they find, it may be home the same day, or a night in
the hospital. So I may be out of touch for a day.

Might as well try no tape.

like A most encouraging result. Will continue without tape.

In order, I hope: whole night, first session before break, second session.

Still a fair bit of restriction occurring and low MV/TV but yes AHI was better and it confirmed my thoughts that the ability to relieve pressure by opening your mouth must help reduce apnea. Both tape and a FFM caused apnea issues, the FFM wasn't surprising but I think you are the first case I am aware of that tape causes an increase in apnea. Potentially because the ability to open your mouth and relieve pressure/exhale helps open the palatal prolapse when it occurs.

I think it is safe to say we have tried almost everything we possible can with PAP. I want you to try this setup for a week and focus on how you are feeling at these settings, write notes or something if necessary. Then we will make one final change run it for a week as well and decide which setting to stick with long term.

Thanks, geer1, for leading me through this.

Will proceed as you suggest.

Best,

Harv

You’re probably wondering why I haven’t posted last
night’s graph. It’s because my CPAP equipment, case
and all, got misplaced during yesterday’s craziness.
I had three appointments, including an angiogram.

Looked everywhere, no luck. Gave my insurance guy
the replacement costs, now waiting for his reply
on Monday.

Best,

Harv

Aaaannndd... still no CPAP. Thinking-about

Travel case & all was stolen.
Did all the police report, interviews, etc. Zilch. Resmed will
send something, some time. Respironics (old System One)
will also replace that under the terms of the recall. Some time.

"supply chain, Covid, yada yada..."

The funny thing is, my sleep with no PAP isn't much worse
than with it. Does this support the prolapse idea?

P.S. Won't be much to say until something like an XPAP arrives.
P.P.S. I have been elevated(?) to an Advisory Member. I'm

I figured that was the case since you went silent.

I would say not feeling noticeably worse supports that we have been unable to find ideal settings/treatment and at least some of that is probably due to the difficulties of treating palatal prolapse.

Another dead end

geer1,

Saw the ENT doc today. He put the scope down my nose.
There were no obstructions. The airway was smooth, straight,
and clear.

Phooey. I thought we’d nailed it.

He will report back to the sleep doc. There are some meds
available to counteract my constant fatigue. And until
one of my two delayed machines arrives, there’s not
much else to be done.
