Obstructive apnea while awake?
I wake up in the middle of the night because of ??. I don't know, I have maintenance insomnia. I attribute it to respiratory disorders, that's why I started using autocpap. The thing is that I am awake in bed, trying to fall asleep, about 2 hours. I see that it is not possible, I get up and in that time I have gone without sleep, just lying down: several episodes of obstructive apnea on the card! How is that possible?

You have my sympathy with insomnia like that. I've got to the stage where I get up and watch some very boring things on Youtube (eg watch reviews by Watchfinder & Co). That usually gets me to sleep eventually.
I think that while lying in bed in a semi-awake state we do occasionally fall into shallow sleep for a few moments, even though it doesn't feel like it. Even if not fully asleep our breathing can get quite ragged, which could be registered as an apnea by the machine.

You left out holding your breath when you move around getting counted as apnea

Yes, but that would register as central apnea. Astracan is seeing obstructive apneas while awake, so I think it's more likely he was in a semi-sleep condition.

When I used a Dreamstation is used to mark CAs like this as OAs.
I think it was because it uses a single pressure pulse. When I take a deep breath and sigh I'll often swallow after it. Often I'll do a double swallow motion. I'm assuming others do this too?
If the pulse occurs during the swallow motion then I'd assume the machine would 'detect' that as an OA?
The Resmed doesn't seem to do this and I'd assumed that was because it uses more of an oscillation. Maybe I'm misinterpreting this because I can't prove it obviously?
