New Member - High Central Apneas

Hi,

I've been using my CPAP for about a month now after my doctor prescribed it for I assume OSA but I have an incredibly high number of central apneas per night compared to obstructive apneas. My AHI is also very high.

For example: (SleepyHead, All other nights used similar)

July 16th 2016: AHI 23.33, Obstructive 0.79, Hypopnea 2.38, Central 19.87,
Cheyne-Stokes 4.20%

July 17th 2016: AHI 23.92, Obstructive 0.74, Hypopnea 3.10, Central 20.08,
Cheyne-Stokes 34.82%

I'm 22 years old, not overweight, no other medical problems.

Should I be concerned about this? My titration study isn't until early October but should I talk to my doctor before then?

Your pressure is set pretty low and seems to be straight CPAP (no Expiratory Pressure Relief). This setting should not be causing the high number of Centrals that you are having. It is somewhat likely that you have mixed apneas or suffer from primarily Central Apnea/Periodic Breathing. Another thing is that having COPD and or Congestive Heart Failure are contributing and complicating factors in Central Apnea. You state that you are young and otherwise healthy. To me that would suggest Central Apnea / Periodic Breathing really is your primary concern. You are going to have to talk with your Sleep Doc about these numbers after you get some more numbers under your belt. It is entirely likely that you are a candidate for an ASV machine but you need more numbers to document this.
