I'm just hoping society doesn't collapse completely before I'm dead. I'm beginning to get worried, though. I've got some news for you ... no crash and burn or collapses

Sometimes it gets a lot worse.
The US civil war, the 1929 great depression, Nazi Europe, the fall of the Roman Empire, the holodomor and Stalinist pogroms, the European invasion of the Americas, the dust bowl, innumerable minor or major wars, epidemics, etc.
We've had it so good in general for so long we tend to forget how bad it can get. And how quickly and unexpectedly it can get bad.

If it's midnight and a DME tells you it's dark outside, go and check it yourself.

Arch,
You missed probably one of the worst events ever... Hostess closed-down!
No more Twinkies!
RE: New Standard for Home Healthcare Devices
Hostess should be back online, under new management in March '13. That is if the silly world does not end on Dec. 21st!

Wow, I hadn't heard anything about them since the closure and they're based here in Dallas.
I keep forgetting about the world ending, it's been a few weeks since I've had a Twinkie so it felt like it was already the end of the world.
RE: New Standard for Home Healthcare Devices
Well, how about a Little Debbie - Moon Pie?

That's pretty much all that's available now... They're just not quite as tasty to me.
Plus, they don't have the 99 year half-life that Twinkies do!

Thanks for sharing the complete information. Rise in the chronic disease has setup the new growing market for home care medical equipments. However, due to lack of knowledge and understanding, there have been issues regarding safety, durability and operability of such medical equipments too. But now with this new standard in IEC 60601, there will be great enhancement occur in the design and verification of medical devices like you can see at ilexmedical.com which will certainly improve their working.

The home device operator, usually a family member or the patient himself, obviously differs from a better-trained, highly educated hospital specialist.
Now that there is just funny. I don't care who you are.
Anybody on this list care to speculate how much better/knowledgeable them highly edgamacated hospital specialists are at operating PAP machines than the average forum member?

Politics do indeed make for strange bedfellows! These medical mafia members do tend to feed off of one another don't they? You can only wonder how anybody making such a foolish statement can command enough attention to get published. Like Diogenese, most of use are searching for that "highly trained" person being referred to in that statement.
Reading that statement sapped all the juice out of my B.S. alarm battery.
edit: On second glance, he didn't say the "home device operator" was less competent, he just implied that they he/she "obviously differs." I'll take that to mean different and superior.
