New airfit20 mask

New airfit20 mask
I am a mouth breather and switched to a full face mask about two weeks ago.  My numbers have been really good since the switch from nasal mask.  Last night I woke up a couple of times and the lower part of the mask was in my mouth.  Maybe this was just a one time phenomenon or I didn't have my mask fastened properly.  My question is if I can wear a chin strap and a full face mask ?  Should the chin strap go under or over the FFM ?  I am going to try to adjust the mask fit tonight but if my leak is as bad as last night, I may have to use the strap also.  Thanks for any replies.

Yes, you can wear a chin strap with a full face mask. I found that wearing the chin strap over the mask headgear helps stabilize the mask. Just go with what works for you. A soft cervical collar may work as well for and be more comfortable.

I found that when I was having the same issue as you it wasn't caused so much by my mouth dropping open. My chin was dropping back toward my throat letting the mask lose it's seal and slip up and the chin strap didn't really help with that issue.. Using a double, boil to fit mouth guard to prevent my jaw from falling back has resolved that issue. I still use the chin strap for mouth leaks.

RE: New airfit20 mask
I used one with a FFM as I found myself chewing it in the morning after opening my mouth.
I found I had to use it over the mask headgear or I found it would move under and break the seal.
It was not the easiest thing to do though, so I thought there must be an easier way.
Now I use Nasal Pillows with a chin strap.
I had to teach myself to breath through my nose, took a while, but you ust have to make sure you do it all the time.
I still need a chin strap now I am on lower pressures as a small amount sneaks out  through my lips and dries out my mouth allowing even more to escape.
But yes, you can use one, thought it is/was not very easy with the mask I had.
However, if you persist it can be done.

I had this exact problem till I finally got my DME agent to order me the large size headgear! They send a standard headgear in the complete mask boxes for the F20 AirTouch or F20 AirFit masks. They send the standard with the for “Her” series too. Good luck

I had the same problem with the f20.  Finally went from medium size to large cushion size and didn't have the problem you are describing.  I think the template isn't always correct.

Same problem with the F20. The silicon pillow ended up in my mouth. The F20 runs a bit shorter than the sizing chart that comes with it. The rim of the pillow curled up right under my lower lip. After a few days with the F20, I switched to the F10 which is evidently a few mmm longer and wider.

Size up!

I had the same problem with the F20 mask and found that either a chin strap or soft cervical collar would prevent it. I find the soft cervical collar much more comfortable and easier to use than the chin strap. If you can't find one locally they are available from Amazon for around $10.
