I reread this post - I was referring to googling "chondromalacia exercises" - I feel for the OP, and pray he will get past this quickly.

Do not want the OP thinking I was referring to him, although having three issues at the same time does suck.

Often the ankle or the lower back and abs can unbalance the knee by placing too great load on them. At the same time the most common problem for knees is an imbalance between the quad muscles, the inside or outside muscles pulling too much and turning the knee can off its centre as the knee flexes. Try Googling "chondromalacia exercises" and you will find charts of exercise for not just the knee, but the back and ankle, all of which can help.

Thanks very much! It's good to know that there's _something_ one can do. It's something else to learn about, and to act on.

All our sympathies are with the OP as well.
