RE: New member having difficulty
Good to hear you are making progress... my first three nights didn't see me even making 3 hours per night from memory.

For the most part I only worry about the CPAP Statistics results page, mainly because the top three lines are what I have to stay compliant to.

As that particular screen shows me the spread of averages over a longer period, it is more relevant to what I need to know for my personal needs regarding vehicle licence compliance.

Keep pursuing the information you need, there is a wealth of knowledge within this forum to help you stay informed as you progress.

I started back in late May of this year [2016]
For curiosity I just opened Sleepyhead and had a look at my early stats... my first night of CPAP use lasted a full 8 ---- MINUTES! Oh-jeez

On night three I managed just over 5 hours.. from there on I have progressively improved, and am currently running at 100% compliance for the last few weeks.

For anyone just starting it is a case of feeling "no way can I do this" ... but within a few weeks/months most people reach a point of "I've got this, I can do it" ..

You are at the "I've got this" point Slim, onwards and upwards from here on out.
Good-work

Thanks for the encouragement OckRocket.
Well, another night under my belt. Or should I say under my mask! This time, no getting up to pee. That's progress. Woke up once at 3 A.M. and went right back to sleep. And no headache.

I just wish I could sleep longer hours. If I go to bed at 11, I am up at 5. But maybe 6 hours is as good as it gets.
SH tells me I had 1 OA with the number (12) beside it. Does this mean it lasted 12 seconds?
But I had 5 hypopnea events.
10 vibe snores. Does this mean I should increase my pressure? Although I seemed to have slept through, I still feel as if I had a rough night.

No AHI last night! And no getting up to go to the bathroom for the 2nd night in a row. Hello again all-nighters! It's been awhile. Now if I could only stay asleep till 6 instead of only 5 A.M.

You are doing very well. Stick with it. It took me over a month to get where you are now.

The sleep specialist who is working with me says he has some clients that take 1.5 YEARS to adjust.. he also says that most sleep doctors don't know how to advise patients who have difficulty adjusting.

RE: New member having difficulty
I would agree with that and add that Many Respiratory Therapists at DMEs do not know much about advising patients having difficulty adjusting.

RE: New member having difficulty
OK, so it has been a few weeks. It seems that even with the BPAP, I am still experiencing some issues. I am still waking up with headaches. Night before last, although my machine says I had 3.X AHI events (averaged per hour of course) , when I looked at the sleepyhead stats, I saw 10 events took place within one hour..

I am also concerned about leakage. Although my machine shows absolutely NO leakage, Sleepyhead tells me there IS leakage, and I am wondering whether that is happening while I have the AHIs? Or whether the two are related. I will try to post some pics of the results from night before last. Maybe someone can help me figure out what is happening. Let's see if this works.

RE: New member having difficulty
Pressure is too low and you're not getting any IPAP/EPAP separation. You appear to have both IPAP and EPAP set to a minimum of 4.0 with a variable pressure support. Please post your settings and we can advise further. I would suggest for starters that you change EPAP min to 6.0, PSmin 2.0 PSmax 5.0 max IPAPmax 14.0. The strategy is to increase minimum EPAP until the OA is extinguished. At that point the auto agorithm and variable PS should be able to treat hypopnea and flow limitation. With your current settings, your machine is in the pressure hole so far, it never gets out. Also the pressure swings are far too large to provide undisrupted sleep. We really want to level this out and properly treat the events.
