New member humidifier question
Hello everybody,
I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and got my new machine a couple of days ago.
I got an Auto A-Flex machine with heated humidifier.
I understand how it works, however, I find that air that comes from the machine is too warm, I kinda looked through menus and never found any options to adjust air temperature? Can that even be done? I can turn the dial to 0 (turn humidifier off) but that would be defeating the purpose .... any ideas ?
Thanks...

RE: New member humidifier question
One of the options in the settings is System One Humidification. It changes how the setting on the dial works. If it's on, turn it off. If it's off, turn it on. From the manual:
SYSTEM ONE humidification - System One humidity control maintains a consistent mask humidity by monitoring and adjusting for changes in room temperature and room humidity. You can enable or disable this feature. If the System One humidity control has been disabled, the classic style of basic temperature controlled heated humidification will be used. This will only display if the humidifier is attached.
You might find that you are more comfortable without using the humidifier. Go ahead and turn it off if it works better for you. It is a comfort feature of the machine, not a requirement.
Hope this helps.

Hmmm..I can't find this option......I found one option that says heated tube humidification and it's currently set to ON.....I wonder if I can turn it OFF will it still provide humidification?

Get a copy of the Clinicians manual (see top of page), setup manuals.
This will allow you to access all the "secret" settings.
RE: New member humidifier question
If your humidifier chamber is attached and filled with water you will get some humidification as air passes through the chamber even if the controls are off.
if you can't decide then you don't have enough data.

RE: New member humidifier question
Ok, as soon as I set heated tube humidification to OFF, suddenly that menu option (System one humdification appeared right under it)....yay
Thank you everybody.
Just tried it....set system one to OFF as well, air is nice and cool, the first night when the heated tube was ON it was unbearable....room was nice and cool but air inside the mask super warm
RE: New member humidifier question
If you prefer an unheated hose, you may want to switch to standard tubing when it's time to reorder. There's no harm in using the heated hose without heat, but standard hoses cost less.

RE: New member humidifier question
My understanding of System One with included heated hose (as opposed to the earlier models without heated hose), using the System One humidifier will automatically adjust the temperature of the tank AND the hose. How good it actually works, is another question. But that's what it's supposed to do.
Running the humidifier on manual will defeat the heated hose. In colder weather, not having a heat hose might cause rain out as the heated vapor stream could condense. The main problem I found with the condensation is that it sounds like a trumpet rather than any problem with the liquid.
If you want to run it on manual to get the hotter vapor steam and have a heated hose, the you have to get a third party heated hose. You can make one with a regular hose and reptile cage heater or you can find a third party heated hose (which were popular before heated hoses were an OEM option). If you elect to make your own, the hose doesn't have to be hot and shouldn't be. Just warm enough to keep the stream from condensing. But the do it yourself can get bulky.
