I'm a new member and new to cpap, started therapy on July 15th, 2021. I'm a 56 y.o. woman who's snored and had sleep issues since my twenties. In 2010 I asked for a sleep study, and the doctor told me that I didn't need a study because I didn't have apnea
For the last 6 years at least, probably longer, I've been waking up gasping for breath and having nightmares where I couldn't breathe. All the doctor ever wanted to do was prescribe sleep medication.
Fast forward to 2021, a new doctor decides I need to see a psychiatrist because I'm taking the medication they prescribe to me. The psychiatrist orders the sleep study and the results come back that I have severe sleep apnea. All I was told is AHI 35 and O2 dipping to 84%. Based on info here, I'll be ordering a copy of my sleep study results so I can get the rest of the information.
As far as adapting to the mask, I didn't have much problem the first couple of nights, even without the ramp. I felt like trash during the day. Also had some headaches during the night, but those seem to have resolved. Still tired, but not miserably so.
Then, last night I woke up twice and realized I didn't have the mask on. I don't know if I took it off or it fell off, but I think (if I read it right) Oscar said I had the mask on for all of 3.2 hours. MyAir score was 95 when I first got up, then later when I checked it changed to 61 ((((
The only thing I can think of is that I have been waking up every morning with a sore nose from the air pillows, so maybe I'm pulling it off because of that?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
