RE: New to CPAP and the Apnea Board
As Sleeprider said we like to use a different set of charts here. To quickly order the charts click on, next to File "View / Reset Charts / Advanced" we made it easy.

Ok, thank you Fred for your help.  Here are the charts.  I hope this is correct.

RE: New to CPAP and the Apnea Board
OK everyone, I changed the PS Max based on SleepRider and JasWilliams recommendations to 12 (from 7 the night before) and I am posting two charts based on what Bonjour said would be helpful.  I gotta say, I slept pretty well last night.  I was definitely "nudged" a few times throughout the night, but it seemed less disruptive than the previous evening.

The best way I can describe the experience is; if I am inhaling and exhaling normally (with a easy peaceful rhythm) the machine glides along with your individualized breathing and it is almost unnoticeable that the ASV is working.  Now, if I start to change my rhythmic breathing pattern by allowing too much time to elapse before I inhale, the machine is there and increases the pressure to help me breathe.

I think the ASV machine was the only way my AHI was going to consistently drop below 5.  I have everyone here to thank for helping make the decision to change from the Airsense Autoset to the Aircurve ASV.

Here are the charts from last evening, I included the Tidal Volume, Respiration Rate and Minute Vent.

Am I supposed to have my Tidal Volume below 500?  I thought I read that here in a post.

Looks much better and your comfort will continue to improve. Very nice steady minute vent and while the machine is active it is not pushing you around except for that period of high pressure support from 1:30 to 2:30 through the break in therapy.

Thank you Sleeprider for inspecting my graphs from last night.  I really appreciate it.  This so much better than where I was even a month ago.  If you compare last night to the graph below.  I feel very fortunate to have joined the Apnea Board.  What a great resource!

RE: New to CPAP and the Apnea Board
Thanks JasWilliams.  I clocked about 8 hours of sleep last night.  My AHI was 1.2.  I have been having a little trouble with leaks the last two nights with my AirFit p10 mask.   Last night it was 32.4L/min.  I have been waking up with my mouth open and the inside of my mouth is completely dried out.  I have the humidification set to 6 on my machine.   I am wondering if the higher pressures are causing a mask leak or causing me to mouth breathe.

So, do you think my current mask is acceptable with the AVS?  Should I look into another mask?  I am a fan of the nasal pillows masks. Not really loving the full facial masks.

I sleep on my back 99% of the time and I use a very flat pillow.  Might the strap on the AirFit p10 is stretched out?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Dave, if your mouth is popping open, some gentle encouragement to keep it closed might help. The Knightsbridge chin strap might be a good solution. Sometimes you just need a little pressure on the jaw.

Due to the pressures involved with an ASV you can open your mouth it took a while for me to get acclimatised but as long as the large leaks was less than 10% of the night I ignored it over time it came down the affect of the leaks was less than the discomfort and disturbance of the things to stop the mouth breathing. But it’s entirely up to you just stating my experience
