New to Oscar, any info?

New to Oscar, any info?
    Hi,
I started cpap a week ago and uploaded the data onto oscar yesterday. I noticed i have quite a few clear airway and hypopnea's and very low obstructives. I have been diagnosed with moderate osa but have been referred for a full sleep study at the hospital and a neurologist for other symptoms. I just wondered if i could possibly have mixed or csa? I know you are not doctors, but if there is any information or interpretation you could give me, that would be great. I shall attached one of the graphs for reference.

Thank you

Liz

If you didn't have any sort of sleep study yet, I will go with the odds that your CA/clear airway/central apnea is of the treatment emergent flavor. These TECAs if they are in fact treatment emergent are caused by the PAP itself making your respiration too efficient and removing a bit too much carbon dioxide. The body needs to sense a certain level of CO2 before it triggers a breath, and like most PAP users, this can/will cause CA for up to about 3 months. You can attempt to avoid these until your body adjusts. Minimize Ramp and Flex so that it's a minimal pressure swing. I'd try little to zero Ramp and the same with Flex. Try it and see what the data says.

And welcome to the Apnea Board.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I had the at home sleep study which brought up a few centrals but only got diagnosed with osa. The full sleep study they have referred me for. I don't use the ramp feature as i pass out within a couple of minutes just putting it straight on with the normal 7.5 setting, i don't know if the ramp automatically comes on at the start though?
How do you minimise flex? Is flex just the pipe? sorry, not quite sure about everything yet. I will certainly research this emergent treatment ca though.

Again, Thank you Smile

DreamStations have a comfort setting called Flex. There's C Flex and A Flex. Check the section above in the black bar to find your exact machine within the CPAP Settings Manuals. Maybe check your comfort settings and see if Flex is "outside" the Clinical menu that you can edit yourself. If not, then access the Clinical menu via the secret code of click and hold both Ramp (top button with triangle) and then click in the dial at the same time. Hold for about 5 seconds and release the buttons when the new menu pops up. Either area, search for Flex and lower or turn it off, depending on best therapy suggestion. Best wishes on your success.

PS forgot, the Ramp is most likely not going to apply if you don't click the Ramp button during therapy.
