Sad, but we see so many reports here very much like this. There are competent DME's out there, but finding them seems hit or miss.

I'm sure she can. It's overwhelming when we're new to it. Partly because it's a lot of new information, partly because we're anxious about it, and partly because the sleep deprivation we've lived with for so long has impaired our cognition.

The good news is that all of that can be overcome with a commitment on our part to use the machine. Soon you'll be tweaking your settings and improving on the settings determined during your sleep study.

If you have insurance and are looking through their list of providers, be sure to check both "durable medical equipment providers" and "home health care providers".

They make a whole lot of money selling stuff to you, so you have a right to good service.

Sleepster and boardies, thanks for the encouragement, here is some progress!

Her insurance company had assigned this CPAP to Apria Healthcare. I called the RT assigned. A very pleasant "Beverly" said come in and she would issue a new ResMed SD card and while there she set it up according to my prescritption settings. Only thing Beverly was not sure about was switching the "For Her" setting vs regular setting. So, using the boards Supplier List, phoned a Minnesota outfit [commercial DME website address removed - instead, refer to Supplier #2 on the Supplier List] and an equally pleasant "Kim" verified indeed the CPAP is set to Mode: CPAP APAP. Bought the Mirage FX nasal mask, a pack of filters and when shipping arrives in about a week i should have the unit plugged in and ready to go!
